What’s inside our GMACHL mulled wine


Can you imagine Advent season without mulled wine? The popular hot drink with a kick is an essential ingredient of Christmas markets near and far. Have you already tried GMACHL’s mulled wine? As a popular aperitif it is an indispensable part of Christmas parties, and we also serve it at the Krampuslauf Elixhausen. Our chef Christian Kastenmeier gave us a sneak peek into the cauldron and exclusively shares his delicious recipe!

Cosiness and upscale culinary delights are part of the programme during a Christmas party in one of the comfortable GMACHL parlours. We serve mulled wine (and punch as an alternative) as an aperitif with chestnuts from the LaKra bowl, served at the open fire for a festive atmosphere. The chef and his team built a new punch hut in the courtyard dining area this year especially for this purpose, making the delicious hot drink taste twice as good.


The GMACHL mulled wine recipe by Christian Kastenmeier

Would you like to try your hand at making our famous mulled wine yourself? Chef Christian Kastenmeier has the perfect recipe for you!



  • 1 l red wine
  • 0.5 l orange juice
  • 250 g sugar
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 cloves
  • 3 star anises
  • 5 fresh oranges

Caramelise sugar with spices and a dash of water until colourless. Deglaze with orange juice, add freshly halved oranges and red wine. Cover with cling film and simmer for two hours on a low heat.
