Indoor ice skating rinks in Salzburg
Enjoy ice skating in halls in the city whatever the weather:
- Eisarena in the Volksgarten:
The home of the multi-time Austrian ice hockey champions Red Bull Salzburg opens its doors from October to March. Around 3,600 m² of roofed ice skating area offers the ideal conditions for leisure skaters, schools and sports clubs.
- Eishalle Wals/Grünau:
Located on the outskirts, the ice hall in the Wals district Grünau is very popular. The small but nice ice rink offers excellent conditions. Skates can be rented on site.
Outdoor ice skating in Salzburg
Are you already familiar with the outdoor options in the city? No? Time to change that!
Bring your ice skates when visiting Salzburg’s historic city centre! Starting in November the artificial ice rink at Mozartplatz invites you to enjoy the wintery open air in a historic ambiance.
Salzburg’s largest shopping mall also provides magic on ice starting from November. The ice skating rink on the Piazza opens at 12 am on weekdays. Skating is particularly beautiful here at dusk.
- Leopoldskroner Weiher:
Artificial ice skating rinks aside, there’s also a bit of natural ice if weather permits. What makes the Leopoldskroner Weiher a hotspot for ice skating in Salzburg is the majestic view of Leopoldskron Castle, Hohensalzburg Fortress, Gaisberg and Untersberg.
Other ice skating rinks around Salzburg
Ice skating is equally entertaining outside the Mozart city. We recommend the following highlights on skates:
The ice skating rink of the local public pool is small but nice. The hall provides sufficient space for some neat skating – only a ten-minute drive from Romantik Hotel GMACHL!
As soon as the nights are cold enough and the ice has reached a certain thickness, the natural ice skating rink in Fuschl am See invites you to entertaining action with a mountainous panorama.
- Schlossweiher Sighartstein:
Again, you have to wait for several icy nights and a proper layer of ice. The incomparable natural scenery of the pond makes romantic dreams come true.
After your trip on skates you can enjoy a savoury Fondue Chinoise in the GMACHL restaurant every Monday, Saturday and Sunday per advance booking!
Whether it’s in the city or the countryside, ice skaters love the active and enjoyable variety around our Romantik Hotel GMACHL. Have you already requested your winter holiday offer?
